Red Eye

I was going nuts on my way home from Colombia and had to do something to pass the time. I couldn't read because I was too tired and I couldn't sleep because I am me. This is one of three poems that I wrote on my trip. The setting is that airplane during a nightime "red eye" flight. Nothing special but thought I would share.

Red Eye

Shadowy darkness interrupted by sparse, random halos of light

Mouth ajar, chin up, eyelids drawn

Unconsciously searching a world beyond the clouds

Red light, green light, internal movements relieved in turn

Up, down, up, down the rhythmic tonations pulls one more chin up and one more mouth ajar

Unspoken "Bless you's" follow each forceful, ruidous experience

Monotony and fatigue claim desire's love of books and sound of mind

  1. Love it. I felt like I was there. I loved this line:

"Unspoken "Bless you's" follow each forceful, ruidous experience"

Saying it without saying it. Great.
